Louis Vuitton purses and handbags are known for their classic yet striking designs, as well as for the distinctive LV monogram, with the L and the V interlocked. Louis Vuitton makes both leather purses, and cloth (canvas, denim, etc.) purses.
Louis Vuitton was born in France in 1821. In 1854, he opened his first store in Paris, and the Louis Vuitton line hasn’t looked back since. The design house of Louis Vuitton has always remained in the Vuitton family, passing through four generations to the present fifth generation Vuitton, Patrick.
The Louis Vuitton design house originally started out manufacturing and selling trunks. Within four years, he had expanded the line and demand was so great that he had to move manufacturing out of downtown Paris. In addition, the line was so popular that copycats became a problem even back then, leading to the introduction of the famous LV logo.
In current days, the Louis Vuitton carry line has expanded to include luggage, purses, attaches, and backpacks. Louis Vuitton is “Always leading the avant-garde of fashion without compromising traditional craftsmanship, Louis Vuitton is also active in other creative spheres: ready-to-wear, shoes, watches and jewelry,” says the Louis Vuitton site.
Even while expanding their offerings, however, they have remained true to their craftsman heritage and outstanding quality, explaining that “Today, as in the past, the House cultivates its prized craftsmanship, the passion for skilled handiwork and the most exquisite materials to create products whose unique value is recognized worldwide. Each stunning detail and signature element respects this long tradition of excellence.”
Louis Vuitton purses can be found and purchased at both Louis Vuitton stores, and through high-end department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom’s.
